Sixth International Marine Debris Conference

Date:   12th - 16th March 2018

Location:   San Diego, California, USA

The 6IMDC is an opportunity to energize international coordination efforts within the marine debris community. It will build upon the partnerships and successes of the Honolulu Strategy which was developed at the last conference in 2011.   The 6IMDC will bring together international marine debris researchers, natural resource managers, policy makers, industry representatives, and the nongovernmental community. The impetus for this international marine debris conference is the pressing need to address and reduce the impacts of marine debris to vital natural resources, human health and safety, and the economy.

Objectives of this international conference include sharing lessons learned and best practices to reduce and prevent marine debris and its impacts; promoting international co-learning; exchanging innovative ideas such as market incentives and communication strategies; and sharing the latest research initiatives, methods, and results.

With a variety of tracks, themes, and session types, the 6IMDC will promote new partnerships, further raise public awareness and support, and inspire new actions that will take us closer to a world free from the impacts of marine debris. Please visit the 6IMDC website for more information about the event.
